Chair's Message
The department of Integrated Systems Engineering is the home of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Welding Engineering at OSU. Our programs are flourishing -- our peers consistently recognize our Industrial and Systems Engineering programs as being among the best in the country - the undergraduate program is ranked #16 and the graduate program is ranked #17 (US News and World Report, 2007). And of course - for students who are interested in studying Welding Engineering and Materials Joining, this is the place to be!
Our faculty is recognized for its excellence in teaching and research - these recognitions come from our peers at OSU, around the USA, and around the world. We offer a variety of research opportunities to complement and enhance studies at all degree levels. Our research labs reflect the breadth of our collective expertise, and offer state-of-the-art facilities for cutting-edge research. In addition to our traditional strengths in Human Factors / Ergonomics, Manufacturing Science and Systems, Operations Research, and Materials Joining - we're also keenly focused on the systematic integration of these and other traditional engineering disciplines to meet the challenges of engineering in the global economy.
Our students are fully engaged - many of our undergraduate students pursue co-op and internship opportunities. Our graduate students actively participate in our research programs. We encourage our students at all levels to develop ties to their professional communities in a variety of ways.
These are exciting times for the students, faculty, and staff of ISE - with many changes under way, and many more to come. Like our disciplines, this website is dynamic and in a state of continuous improvement! Please stop by from time to time to learn about the new and exciting things that are happening in ISE!
Go Bucks!
